Hello! My name is Vivian and I'm 17. I'm a student in Singapore pursuing Diploma in Animation.
Here's a little summary about my life so far.
I started drawing everyday ever since I went to kindergarten. Drawing has always been my hobby and something that I enjoy doing. I find inspiration from music, motivational quotes and movies. When I was a kid, I used to have magnetic drawing boards. Whenever one broke, my mother would buy me another one. Everyday, I spent hours drawing out random stories on my magnetic drawing board. Nothing was able to entertain me as much as drawing!
I used to draw so much that I didn't care about my studies... and you know that's bad! I didn't fail my subjects horribly but most of them were borderline passes. I got a considerably low score for my first national exam. (Could've been worse though) While more students in my class were going into the "Express" stream, I went into the "Normal Academic" stream, which was a 'middle' sort of academic stream. From then on, I woke up and studied hard. I climbed my way up to the "Express" stream one year later, an achievement I never thought I could achieve. I had great support from my friends as well.
I have met many kinds of people. Some who taught me life lessons.. some who prepared me for what's to come.. some who changed my perspective of the world and life.. some who kept me going during the darkest of times... some who stuck with me when I was at my worst... and some who just makes me feel deeply loved and remembered.
However, in secondary school, I did the opposite of what I did during primary school. I slowly lost interest in my hobbies. I stopped drawing and playing video games just to dedicate all my time to studying. I eventually stopped drawing by the 4th year of school. I realised during the period when I stopped drawing that I felt that I have been drained of my happiness. Then I realised drawing is therapeutic to me and I can't live without it. Yes, I did receive truly excellent results during the national exam, but I sacrificed my passion for it. So from that, I learned that there should be a healthy balance between work and play.
Now, I've graduated from secondary school and is studying Animation in a Polytechnic. I've made many friends, (well my circle of friends is still kinda tiny) and my grades so far are okay. I've been pushing myself to talk more to friends because I cherish people who encourage me and stand by me even through my worst times. There are also people whom I wish I can spend more time with (because, you know, everyone has someone they're interested in/curious about *cough*) and talk to them more often, but at the same time, I don't wanna seem like a creep. haha!
